Bewitching Stitching

Love this lady

A little taste of stitch and slash...

It never occurred to me that finding somebody to sew something would be so difficult. Granted I don't mean just anything, I mean my bespoke 'stitch and slash' textile that will feature in my A|W 12 Cerebellum collection. That said, I have been happily producing it for samples and toiles on my little domestic machine or a flat bed industrial at uni with few problems. The only hitch is the time it takes to complete, so, I was advised to outsource the work - enter stumbling block. No where on this planet could do the job - embroiders said no or it will cost your life's savings, sewing groups said no, weavers no, knitters no, machinists no, quilters no................................ and then the lovely Lana from Bewitching Stitching said yes!!! We haven't even met yet and I already love her, expect fabulous textile developments soon!

Getting knitty with it

It started out as a harmless little jumper, this knit obsession of mine. I know I'm not doing knitwear blah, blah, blah but I just wanted a little bit of mohair, that was all. Trouble is you can't have a little bit of mohair, certainly I can't. So it became 'just a few' knitwear pieces - just the basics, a slouchy cardi, a jumper, perhaps a snood, but no more. And then I met my knitter.

I only had to say cable stitch and we were off - tubular knits imposed onto plain knits, viscose with mohair, mohair with mohair, anything with mohair really. And so begins my foray into knitwear a mere 10 weeks before the whole collection has to be finished, as Jay Z says "difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week".
